Hyperion Projects is selected as the BIM consultant for this project on the upgrading of FT004 from Gerik, to Kupang, to Lunas for a 12.8km length of highway. The project comprises of the upgrading of the existing road of two lanes single carriageway to four lanes dual carriageway, which consists of eight major junction and three bridges.

As BIM is mandatory for JKR projects, our role is to assist in visualising, not just the new upgrading works design, but also the existing site condition as the client would like to know if the new design is encroaching into the existing plot of land. Through this process of visualisation, the model also enables the consultant to visualise and optimise their design to suit the current condition at site.

As the BIM workflow progresses, more detailed information is inserted and modelled according to JKR standards to visualise the design as per construction drawings. It is also around this stage where Clash Analysis are being done to ensure the construction drawings information does not disrupt the existing site conditions.

When it comes to new construction and existing conditions, a lot can go unnoticed without visualisation. Hence our role as BIM consultant is to ensure that the design team and the execution team are working with one understanding, which is through the BIM’s design modelling views.
